About Us

Our Story
The Fanfan family has deep roots in Jérémie, the capital of Grand'Anse — a city of artists, farmers, and fishermen nestled between the mountains and the sea. Generations of our family grew up here: the morning sounds of the market, the smell of fresh produce, the warmth of neighbors who were as close as family. Jérémie shaped us. It lives in us.
When our family came to the United States, we carried Jérémie with us. We built new lives in the U.S., but we never stopped sending support home — care packages, school fees, help with medical bills. We stayed connected through phone calls, through visits, through the news that sometimes broke our hearts. But we knew that individual acts of support could only go so far.
The moment that changed everything was seeing what happened when people gathered. During a family visit to Jérémie, we organized a small market — a few tables of produce, a community meal. What we witnessed was a community coming alive. Farmers who hadn't had a place to sell their goods were beaming with pride. Families who hadn't seen a doctor in years got basic checkups. Children ran and played. Neighbors reconnected. We realized: what Jérémie needed wasn't just aid. It needed a reason to gather.
That insight became the Norcilia Fanfan Foundation. We started the foundation with one founding principle: when you bring people together, communities grow stronger. Today, we organize annual community fairs in Jérémie, run year-round health and education programs, and support local farmers and entrepreneurs — always anchored in that same belief. We are not outsiders delivering charity. We are family, and Jérémie is home.

Mission
To bring the people of Jérémie together by organizing community markets, delivering health services, and creating spaces where families, farmers, and neighbors support one another — because when people gather, communities grow stronger.
Vision
A Jérémie where every family has access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunity — and where the community gathers regularly to celebrate, support, and uplift one another.

Our Approach: Haitian-Led, Community-Driven
We believe the most sustainable development is led by the people it serves. The Norcilia Fanfan Foundation intentionally prioritizes local Haitian leadership in all of our programs — our Haiti Country Director, program managers, health coordinators, and community liaisons are all from Jérémie and Grand'Anse. They know these communities because they are these communities.
Our role as diaspora founders is to connect resources and opportunity to local leadership — not to direct or manage from afar. We partner with local organizations, hire local staff, build local capacity, and step back so community members can step forward. We are not here to create dependency. We are here to help Jérémie write its own story.
